A lucid dream is a type of dream in which the dreamer becomes aware that they are dreaming while dreaming. During a lucid dream, the dreamer may gain some amount of control over the dream characters, narrative, or environment.

The concept I developed for the 13th edition of International Talent Support, contest for young fashion designers, was lucid dreaming. I've always been fascinated by lucid dreaming and the idea of a parallel dimension in which we are able to experiment a different kind of consciousness and confront ourselves with limitless situations created by our subconscious.

The campaign images consisted in dreaming models who lived their lucid dreams in different ways.

The outfits styling was created accordingly to the different subjects and the final images were the result of photographic compositions.

Massimo took 2 different shots with different light setups for each model, in order to obtain a peculiar and distinctive visual effect.

The ITS Lucid Dream Machine

The Lucid Dream Machine is a VR installation made to replicate the experience of a lucid dream. After wearing the VR headset (which is black, not showing any VR) you are welcomed by an hypnotic voice and hypnotic images which lets you fall into the lucid dreaming phase. You are invited to close your eyes then, after the coutdown for the lucid dreaming phase, to open them again. Only at this point, after opening his/her eyes with the headset active, the visitor experience VR, which features a reproduction of the same place where the installation is located, so basically the same place where the visitor is, but completely transformed into a dream version. A train passes by, roof levitates, walls and the entire structure of the building fly away. A lot of things start to happen: you are living a lucid dream!
